For a kick of spiciness, Wild Turkey's famous rye mash is used. He then ages the whiskey for 6-8 years, longer than any other whiskey in this "weight class", in hand-selected American oak casks with the famous "crocodile char" n. ° 4 to get the maximum flavor from each barrel.
Eddie designed the 81 to be a smoother counterpart to the 101, and while it stands tall on its own, it really shines in a mixed drink like a Manhattan or Old Fashioned. We like to call it the perfect whiskey blend.
