The winery was founded in 1995. Initially it was located in an old cellar excavated on the slopes of the San Vicente de la Sonsierra castle. These caves were dedicated, since the 12th century, to the production and aging of wine. The room where the wine skins were received or shipped was called “Contador” and that is where the name of the winery comes from.
