Hoyo de Monterrey owes its origins to the plantation of the same name, located in San Juan y Martínez (D.O.P.), in the heart of the Vuelta Abajo region (D.O.P.). This is where the Hoyo de Monterrey plantation is located, one of the most famous "Vegas de Primera" plantations, with the famous inscription on its entrance door: "Hoyo de Monterrey. José Gener. 1860."
The Spaniard José Gener, from Tarragona, first used the name of this plantation as a brand in 1865. All Hoyo de Monterrey cigars are entirely handmade with long filler - Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga - The flavor of its blend makes it an attractive option for those who enjoy a light Habano with a delicate aroma, as well as being extremely elegant and complex.
