In 1995 and 1996 the Alvarez family, owners of Vega Sicilia, began to think about a new winery. Not far from the Ribera del Duero (about 100 km), and on the Duero River itself is Toro. Famous wine-producing region for centuries and with great prestige in great periods of its life. They thought it could be a challenge to develop a project there, an area not very fashionable in those years but with great potential. The first years were dedicated to studying to produce a wine that would maintain the prestige of the firm. After the first four harvests (1997-2000), they realized that they had to preserve, extract and protect everything that will make Pintia an elegant wine, within the austerity that the region confers. The vineyards are their own and have an average age of between 40 and 60 years. Definitely; a modern wine, which leads the emergence of a new generation of Toresans, in which it seeks to reward fruit in harmony with the character of its terroir.
